Why any wealth-builder needs to create a vision (and how to do it)

In this week's video I walked through one of the critical steps that helped take me from someone struggling and unfocused with money to taking purposeful action towards a life empowered by money.

A bit more backstory than I share in the video: for years I struggled with credit card debt and spending on dumb stuff that at the time I thought elevated my status... A better car... shopping at Nordstrom... always focused on upgrading.

What really changed for me was 1) realizing that I had spent years working and after all that had less money, technically, than my 15 year old self did and 2) creating a vision for myself that helped me understand how much I needed to save to provide passive monthly income that was connected to giving me more freedom and flexibility in my life.

The vision that I focus on in the video combines financial theory and the psychological importance of money in life in order to help make behavior changes that help you get to where you want to go.

When I realized that a $10 monthly subscription would take $3,000 in investments to pay for passively, it made me re-consider if the $10 subscription was even worth it.

When I realized that if I gave myself an extra 5 years to save and invest that money could earn more on its own than I could make in a year, it made me want to invest more and start sooner.

It was the mix of envisioning where I wanted money to support me in my life, combined with a clear picture of what it would take to get there, that helps make the tough trade-off decisions easier. Because saving money is hard. And saving MORE money is harder as you start to prioritize building wealth over spending it. So it takes a really clear vision to keep you inspired and making those daily decisions.

I hope the guide and video can help you to create your own vision! I would also love to hear yours if you would like to share. 😄

P.S. I mention in my video that I am planning to launch a money training. It will most likely be a Zoom session we have for 1-2 hours for 4-6 weeks. It would be a live group-course, focused on helping you create a vision, manage debt, create an investment plan, optimize cash flow, and build a plan that you can follow daily to help get you to where you want to be. I'll have more detail on that as I work on it, but since you are the first 200 subscribers I thought I'd share early!

Hope you have a great weekend,

Greg
